These pictures are from a Valentine's golf tournament in Naples, Florida. Cindy asked me to do rosebud cookies. The ladies then attached sticks to the back and made them into bouquets of roses for the centerpieces at their lunch. Brilliant idea! I love the way they added the greenery to the vases to make them look so realistic!

This year has started off with a bang and I have the blog to show for it. No time to post which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective :)

27 Platters...

Yes you heard right...27 platters went out the door a week or so ago. Susan is a friend and the hospital her husband works for was certified a Level 3 trauma hospital. Quite a big deal! They wanted to celebrate and give each department a "Thank You" platter of cookies.

I was so honored to be a part of the special occasion! We decided on 8 large cookies and 40 minibites for each platter. I will let you do the math but it is by far my largest order to date. My little oven was working overtime!

The best part of doing large orders like this is that is helps me gauge just how many orders I can handle in a week. It keeps growing :)

Little owls (or owls in general) are the hottest thing going and the cutest too! My daughter's teacher is one of those that you know will make a big impact on Kendall. She loves going to school and gushes about how she LOVES (not likes) her teacher. So when she asked me to do cookies for her sister's baby shower, I was honored. The colors of the invite were teal, yellow and grey. The eyes on this owl really made the little guy. I loved that she asked me to be a part of her family's special day.

Wonder what 600 minibites look like? Well I was baking like crazy getting them ready that I forgot to take a picture of the finished product! In any case, there were 2 big bakery boxes full of these little hearts. What are they for? A wedding! I have done wedding rehearsals & wedding showers but these were for my first official wedding. The best part? I didn't have to assemble anything, just make the cookies :)I am really hoping they will send me a picture of the finished product to post!

Char contacted me about doing onesies for her sister's baby shower this weekend. The theme is Buckeye Baby. First thing you think about is footballs, brutus etc. until you find out that the baby is a Girl! So naturally I think pink. I suggested pink onesies with the traditional block O on them. I am pleased with the way they came out. I used the red and white gingham ribbon to tie in the red/white theme.

Jen is the wife of a co-worker of my husband. She is headed to Chicago this weekend for a friend's baby shower and wanted to take a platter of cookies up with her. We decided on the little owls from the invitation and some onesies in complimentary colors.

What I have found is that owls are becoming super popular. In the next few weeks I have 3 owl orders on my calendar. All different kinds but they are especially popular for baby showers. Very gender neutral and cute!

Pepper wanted to thank her dentist in New Albany with a platter of cookies. The practice is New Albany Elite Dental. Their logo on their website focuses on the Elite Dental part of their name so I did large ED letters in their colors and added in some teeth and toothbrushes. Amy's daughter challenged me last year to do the silhouette Barbie cookies...this year she up'd the ante and asked for Smurfette and Smurf cookies! Crazy kid :) Barbie seems like kids play after these little blue characters.

I took on the challenge and decided to try and pipe the image right onto the cookie instead of making the "candy-like" image I usually do. No boring details, but all I have to say is I am really happy with the result however getting there was an interesting (sometimes tearful) journey!

Well we were all geared up for a wonderful birthday party for my twin boys last Sunday. Unfortunately, the high dive ladder had different plans. Rodger fell from the 3rd step up and came down on his arm breaking 2 bones in it. Pretty gross. He is now sporting a green full arm cast for the next 6 weeks and needless to say...we had to cancel and reschedule the party. Luckily we have the best friends who graciously rescheduled their lives to be with us for the event.

Mai asked me to do some gift baskets and a platter of cookies for her daughter's school teachers and the administration. I thought this was a great way to start off on the right foot with your new teacher! I would love a gift basket on the first day!

I modified it a little from the end of the year baskets we did and added some chunky pencils to the mix. These were fun but a reality check on how behind I am in getting my kids ready to start school...ahhh!

Makaine is an intern for a friend of mine here in the neighborhood. She contacted me about doing some minibite hearts for her sister's wedding shower. When I found out how she was using them I thought it was the cutest idea.

We did different colored hearts, half with his first initial and half with hers. They were going to put one of each in clear little boxes with a tag that says "The Perfect Pair". I love it, how creative!!!

Sorry everyone, where did the time go? I am one of those people who loves to check people blogs daily. I get so sad when there isn't a new update and here I went and missed almost 3 weeks of posts! Terrible. I will try not to do that again!

Thank You for a Hair Stylist

Ami wanted to thank her daughter's hair stylist for being well...a great hair stylist :) I didn't have (now I do) any beauty shop cookie cutters so I had to hand cut the hairdryer and scissors. A little tricky so I am glad it was a small basket and not 50 of each. In the end I loved the color combination with the the gray thrown in there.

Ahoy There Me Mateys!

This post is of a personal nature :) My twin boys are turning 5 on Monday and we are having their party tomorrow. This week has been spent getting ready for their pirate themed party. This picture is of their take-home favors. I found the design from Sugarbelle, she is wonderful like that!

I will post the rest of the cookies and desserts after I recoup next week from the next few days activities.

Did you ever want to know what 100 minibites look like? Well probably not, but here it is! Paul is a customer who needed a platter of minibites to set out on a display table. The people he works with are designers so we amp'd up the color combination to something a little fun and dare I say...edgy? As edgy as a cookie can get I guess :)

This is terrible but I did these wonderful rehearsal dinner cookies and didn't take a picture of the actual cookies, hopefully she will send me a picture! I did take a picture of the platter of minibites she had me do for their "after wedding brunch". The colors were wonderfully different, fushia, grey & white.

I love animals :) She wanted to send a really good client a thank you package of cookies. We did dog bones with their clinic's initials on them.

Emily is a Dublin Event Planner who contacted me about doing cookies for some of her future events. I am super excited and so of course I said yes to her first order without really doing any research on the type of cookie she was asking for.

A Cruise Ship!

You can find 99% of the cookie cutters you need on the internet, except a cruise ship! Copper Gifts must corner that market because truly it was the only place I could find that had a cruise ship shape that wasn't 2 inches big. OK, so now take a guess at the price of their cutters....$12.95 plus $8.00 shipping! $20 bucks, I about wanted to gag but I broke down and had to do it. I would have probably tried to make a template and hand-cut them but she wanted 48 cookies. It would have taken FOREVER!

In the end, I am really excited about my new cruise ship cookie cutter. I feel like it should be housed in a glass case for the amount of money I paid for that thing! Anyone need cruise ship cookies?

Thank You Platter

Last week was a bit nuts but in a good way. Mai is a new customer and also very enthusiastic about my cookies, very appreciated :) She knows ALOT of people too and they all seemed to call last week. I hate saying no to people, especially when you are trying to grow a business but there is always a first and it happened last week. I felt terrible but my schedule was nuts and we are getting ready to leave again next week so in between I needed (and still need) to get organized and packed.

Anyway, these are the orders I was able to do and what fun they were!

This is a Thank You platter for a camera shop owner. The camera was a first for me.

Little Me

Many times when I am baking or decorating my kids want to help. While I am happy that they want to try something new, this usually ends up with dough bits all over the floor or icing everywhere but on a cookies. This week I had some extra dough and while the boys were playing Kendall and I snuck in a little "girl time".

Sometimes I am awed by how creative she can be. She came up with this little catepillar all by herself. It even had antennas but she ate them before I could grab my camera :)

Next we were onto icing. I had an extra flower cookie and she iced it with the colors I was using. She did all the outlining and flooding herself. I love the picture, she looks so happy and proud of herself!

So after all that hard work you can probably guess what happened....her brother ate it! Man was he in deep trouble with her. A chase ensued and someone ended up crying, you can guess who :)

I hope this keeps her creative juices flowing this summer and someday maybe I can put her to work in the kitchen helping me with my orders.

This is a great platter because so many people I know use this practice and specifically this doctor for their ob/gyn. Mai asked me to do a thank you platter for Dr. Stockwell. Now when you think of cookies for an ob/gyn lots of crazy images can come to mind. No worries we didn't go "there" but stuck with a simple thank you and apparently he has glasses and a moustache so I added those in.

I love being challenged and the glasses and moustache are cookies I have never attempted or even had cutters for. So, lips became a moustache and I made a template for the glasses. I hope she likes it as much as I do :)

Baby Shower Cookies

Carol found me on the internet and needed baby shower cookies for her daughter's baby shower this weekend. They don't know the sex of the baby so we did yellow and green but added this cute ribbon I found which of course I forgot to photograph. Sometimes I think the simple cookies are the cutest and if you want more detail then a cute ribbon is the perfect added touch.

A couple of weeks ago a group of us headed down to Cantina in the Short North for Taco Tuesday. Mai and her husband own the restaurant and treated us to a wonderful meal and lots of extras. The food really was delicious!

As a "thank you" I made her a platter of mexican themed cookies. I have been wanting to try my hand at limes and this gave me the perfect excuse.

Artist in Training

Laura is a new customer who approached me to do an "artist" themed platter for her son Reed's 4th birthday party. I have been so excited to do this platter and am really happy with the results. I haven't assembled it yet, I am waiting until Thurs. but the cookies are drying and ready to go so I thought I would share them early.

The brush is done using a cookie cutter but the artist palette was hand cut from a template I made. She wanted primary colors so I did 4 different colors since he is turning 4 years old. Clever huh?

The minibites for the center of the platter are going to be a combination of the number 4, circles and the letter R. I love the way the R's turned out. What fun is being an artist if you don't get a little messy right? The splatter look will hopefully add a fun element to the platter.

I will post again when the final product is ready...I just couldn't wait to share :)

Cookies for Frannie

These cookies are headed to Illinois to a sweet friend from high school. One of the best things about Facebook is getting to reconnect with people you haven't seen since, well, high school graduation. I have followed Kerri on FB since she had her little girl Frannie (love her name). She is so good about posting updates and pictures!

Anyway, Kerri contacted me about doing some flower cookies for Frannie's first birthday party. She had looked at my website and picked these colors. We added the "1" in the center too. These are getting ready to ship tomorrow and I can't wait to hear how she likes them!

Rockstar Birthday Party

Kim contacted me about a month ago from New Jersey to do her daughter's birthday party cookies. The theme was "Rockstar" and somehow she had seen the electric guitar I did for my daughter's birthday party and wanted to do the same guitars, microphones and stars for the party.

As the date approached Kim contacted me and said that her mom had passed away and the party had to be cancelled. I felt terrible for the family. The very next day she emailed me and told me her family had reconsidered and wanted Bethanny to have the party. We were back on :)

I sent the cookies out this past Wed. and when she received them, Kim left me the kindest, most complimentary message I have ever heard. How sweet of her to take the time to call! I know this won't be the end of our cookie journey...she asked me to do her son's birthday party in Sept. I am honored!

Lake House Cookies

Karen's family has a lake house about an hour away, how fun! The community is having a progressive dinner this weekend and she is in charge of dessert. I had an opportunity a couple of weeks ago to do a similar platter for her but this time I wanted to add life preservers to the mix. I found an example of this cookie on another cookie blog, A Dozen Eggs, and loved it. I think it breaks up the anchors and boats.

Princess Crowns for a Birthday Girl

Stephanie is a new client who actually bid and won my cookie platter and gift certificate at a Junior League event and auction back in the fall. Her daughter Taylor is turning 4 and she wanted cookies to pass out to her preschool class. She was open to designs but did say that she loved princesses and the colors purple and pink. I decided to personalize the crown with her name. I have found that kids really enjoy seeing their own names on things.

Baby Shower Cookies

Erin is throwing a baby shower for her nanny and friend Veronica this weekend. She asked if we could tie in the colors from the invitation and maybe one of the animals too. Here is the end result. They know that the baby is a boy and his name will be Zack so we personalized the little baby bottles. Erin also ordered some mini-bites to munch on at the shower.
